I grew up, for the most part of my life, in
a Christian family. I myself believed into the Lord Jesus when I was in second
grade and was baptized when I was 13. Since the beginning of my salvation, I
believed the Lord was my friend. He loved me and was always there for me.
Because of such a relationship, I determined my college years were going to
count in God's eyes. Others immersed themselves in academics and the social
life, but I wanted to be for the building up of the church (1 Cor. 14:26). Not
to say I was "perfect" in college, but by the time I graduated in December 2003,
I still loved the Lord. One reason was due to Christians on Campus.
The
club gave me a way to "flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith,
love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart" (2 Tim. 2:22).
Whether the people involved in the club were my peers or older or younger
Christians, they ministered Christ to me when I saw them on and off campus. Many
times I would be so physically and emotionally drained by the evenings, but I
would be nourished physically and spiritually when I met these Christians in
homes for dinner and fellowship. Furthermore, I especially treasured the times
when an older Christian sister would pray with me when I was going through hard
times. These and many more experiences were what got me through college. -- B.L.
